The lesson I learned right after my concussion (not the obvious one)
Hat tip to my friend Megan Macpherson Jones (she is the creator and beautiful mastermind behind Yes God Wellness (go check her out, follow her, download her app, and get yourself some of her amazing products)) for calling me out on some low vibration behavior in the kindest way possible.
We need friends who will call us on our shit, but no one likes to get kicked when they're down. Let me set the scene for you without too many boring and unnecessary details: I was a few days out from my concussion, and called Megan to give her an update on this business situation I have been dealing with. There was a woman who was getting on my last ever-loving nerve by being absolutely impossible to work with.
I may or may not have called her a name or two, and Megan asked me again what her actual name was. I told her. She said, "We need to pray for her. She's getting in thew way of her own prosperity and we can send her some higher vibrations."
Let me just tell you: it's really hard to call someone names when your friend is on the other end of the conversation leveling up and thereby inviting you to do the same.
So I did. I prayed for her and sent her my best intentions and well wishes.
And guess who stopped being a stick in the mud (just yesterday, so I guess that was another reminder that the Universe does not work on my time schedule)? Yep: Mrs. Stick in the Mud herself decided she'd be significantly easier to work with.
Morals of the story: get friends who will help you level up. I usually try to be that friend, but I certainly needed some help in this situation. And secondly, it really doesn't help anything to be unkind - no matter how crappy you're feeling or whether it's truly directed at someone or not.
Quick update for those following the TBI journey: I'm 2.5 weeks post-concussion and feeling SIGNIFICANTLY more clear-headed as of waking up this morning. I still have a long way to go. I am still significantly limiting tech time, extremely limited in my workouts, and intentionally focused on healing. But healing is happening, and I'm so grateful. I was actually even able to get some updates done for my Postpartum Rehab course today because I was feeling much better and had a lot more energy! (Everyone loves the format of MoreCore, so I'm re-creating Postpartum Rehab to function similarly. It'll take a bit, but updates are coming.)
Hoping your Wednesday is lovely.
