Dry Needling
I posted this on my personal facebook page, but wanted to make sure all of my newsletter subscribers knew about the new things I'm offering in my office!
TL;DR: I can do dry needling. Call 919-792-8682 to schedule.
Until August of this year, chiropractors in NC could not practice Dry Needling unless they were licensed acupuncturists.
I was so bummed when I learned this as a student because I was incredibly interested in this therapy, and prior to determining that North Carolina is where we would put down our roots, I was researching which dry needling courses to take.
It made no sense to me that you’d need L.Ac. in order to practice DN because while they both use needles, acupuncture and dry needling are separate therapies.
I love acupuncture and am so excited that Dr. Peggy Regis Robinson is now part of the Triangle Chiropractic and Rehab family and offering her services under our roof. I happily receive and refer for acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and will continue to do so.
Dry needling is a therapeutic practice that uses needles to insert into soft tissues in order to help alleviate discomfort. It’s an incredibly fast-working avenue of care that complements both chiropractic and acupuncture (and actually works incredibly well when followed up with heat therapy - hello infrared sauna! (So basically, you can spend the day at TriangleCRC.)).
I’ve now completed my dry needling certification with the Dry Needling Institute and am credentialed to offer this service in practice. I am so excited to be able to add this technique to the list of things we can offer.
And in case you were wondering what all we do at Triangle Chiropractic and Rehab, here is a list:
chiropractic adjustments of the spine, extremities, and even cranial structures for patients of any age (newborns through geriatric)
therapeutic exercise with a specific focus on core and pelvic floor health for both women and men
take-home exercise (in addition to the exercises done in our office, we always offer ways to complement your care at home)
manual therapy (hands-on care such as myofascial release, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, kinesio taping, and now dry needling)
energy work (Dr. Smith offers Reiki and I do Voila Method)
nutritional and supplement recommendations and guidance
infrared sauna
herbal teas and other offerings from Mangata Birth & Botanics
Berkey filtered water (this seems a little silly to put on here, but that water is legit and several of you have commented that you intentionally fill your water bottles when you come in!)
Women’s Fitness (3x/week fitness classes with a focus on the core and pelvic floor for ANY woman in any stage - these classes are taught by BIRTHFIT Leaders, but you don’t have to be anywhere near childbirth in order to attend, and they’re the ONLY classes in Raleigh that are based on cyclical training - paying particular attention to where you are in your menstrual cycle in order to match your physical output to your energetic and hormonal status)
until last week, I could say that we had one of the best massage therapists in the Triangle (Emily Horn), but she’s left for maternity leave
time (This is another one that’s strange to add, but our initial visits are 60 minutes long so that we can truly get to know our patients and determine if our care is right for them; Dr. Robin’s initial visit is 75 minutes. Our chiropractic follow-up visits are 15 minutes long, which is 3x the length of most chiropractic visits; Dr. Robinson’s follow-up visits are 60 minutes. With that time, you get to take a breath, relax, and be heard while you receive our absolute best care that we have to offer.)
I’d say that’s quite a list. I hope I haven’t forgotten anything. We stay pretty busy.
But one of the things that we offer (and I’m very proud of) is a collaborative approach to care. We co-treat patients alongside their midwife/OB/MD/PT/LAc/NP/PA/LMT/DO/DC (yes, we co-treat with other DCs all the time!). We refer out for care as necessary to anyone from a counselor to a physiatrist to other chiropractors or PTs or acupuncturists.
So if you’ve been in for care: thank you. And if you haven’t, I’m guessing we offer something you may be interested in. (For the record, I don’t book appointments via Facebook, but if you go to www.trianglecrc.com or call 919-792-8682, you can definitely get on our schedule.)
Oh, and for the first time in my 7.5 years of practice, I can now say that, “yes, we accept insurance.”
