Xero Shoes Speed Force II Review

My favorite workout shoe has been the Xero Shoes Speed Force since I got them several years ago. If you’ve worked out with me, I was probably wearing those shoes. I love them and I encourage my patients to get them once they’re ready to workout in a truly minimalist shoe.

When I heard they were making a Speed Force II, I was intrigued, but also ready to be disappointed because I saw no flaws in the original Speed Force.

But much like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets did not replace nor detract from The Sorcerer’s Stone, Speed Force II continues where Speed Force left off.

Please note: if you’re not a Harry Potter fan (why not?), you can still love these shoes.

The Speed Force II is everything I look for in a workout shoe: comfortable, flexible, breathable, wide enough for toe splay, fitted enough for agility, and durable (though, admittedly, I’ve only owned these shoes for about a week, so I can’t fully attest to their durability, but I’ve thus far done two workouts, a little chicken coop work, some outdoor shooting, and some slackline play; I’ve also owned the original Speed Force for at least four years with heavy regular wear).

I love the SF II as much as the originals, which was a big ask. I have worked out in lots of other Xero Shoes, but I’ve not replaced my Speed Force with any others as my mainstay shoe until now. The Speed Force II is as great as the original, but with more breathability and ventilation.

I’ll still love my originals, but the Speed Force II has made its way into my regular rotation. I would definitely recommend adding them to yours!
