How to Work with Dr. Mumma
About Dr. Mumma
Background
Dr. Lindsay Mumma is the owner of Triangle Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center in Raleigh, NC. She started seeing a chiropractor when she was 16 for low back pain. The changes she saw after chiropractic treatment were dramatic. She went from standing on the sidelines of her team’s track meets one year, unable to run due to pain, to breaking a school record in the 300m hurdles the following year. As an athlete, this was a huge success and very encouraging for Dr. Mumma, but she also noticed other benefits after seeing her chiropractor: she stopped getting migraines, she starting sleeping through the night, and she noticed she wasn’t getting sick as often. It wasn’t long before Dr. Mumma knew that being a chiropractor was exactly what she wanted to do.
Education
Dr. Mumma received her BA from Kent State University in Kent, OH, and her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, where she was named the Clinical Excellence Award winner for her graduating class. In addition to the academic requirements of the DC program, Dr. Mumma has also completed over 1000 continuing education credit hours in areas such as rehabilitation, developmental kinesiology, pediatrics, pregnancy, nutrition, pain management, sports injuries, TMJ disorder treatment, disc pain, neuroplasticity, neurology, neurodynamics, and visceral manipulation. She also earned her DNSP, issued by the Prague School of Rehabilitation, Prague, Czech Republic, making her the first (and currently only) Certified DNS Practitioner in the state of North Carolina. She has taken courses through various manual therapy venues including the Motion Palpation Institute, Active Release Technique, Graston Technique, the McKenzie Institute, and the Prague School of Rehabilitation and Manual Medicine. Through her studies, Dr. Mumma has learned from some of the brightest minds in today’s world of chiropractic and other manual therapies. She is committed to being a “forever student” and always learning.
Work Life
In addition to practicing, Dr. Mumma is an instructor for the Motion Palpation Institute and moveMentors where she educates chiropractors and students on adjusting and manual therapy techniques and also in the care of prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric patients. She also teaches at workshops and seminars across the country and internationally.
She has created childbirth education and postpartum rehabilitation courses for her patients and community and coaches a cyclical women’s fitness course. She is a Webster Certified chiropractor. She’s a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, the North Carolina Chiropractic Association, and Shop Local Raleigh.
Accolades
Dr. Mumma was named one of the Leading Physicians of the World by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals and was named a Top Raleigh Chiropractor by Opencare. Her practice was named the Best Chiropractor by the Downtowner Magazine and Wake Living Magazine. They were also awarded the Breastfeeding Friendly Business Award from the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition.
Personal Life
Dr. Mumma and her husband Chris are proud parents of two wonderful sons. They enjoy working out and exploring the outdoors together as a family.

Chiropractor
Dr. Mumma used to help solve problems for her patients, but now she seeks to help her patients find their own answers. She knows that the improvements in joint mobility, range of motion, and even neurological function that all come along with chiropractic care pale in comparison to the improvements in overall health and well-being when patients feel empowered within their bodies and within their healthcare. She listens, advocates for, and educates her patients to help them achieve their individual desired goals while simultaneously offering the best of hands-on healthcare.
Speaker
According to Mary, TriangleCRC's Back Office Manager, seeing Dr. Mumma speak on stage at the largest chiropractic conference was just like being in the office with her. She's dynamic, passionate, talks a little too fast, and is as likely to tell you a joke as she is to explain the intricate details of any aspect of health. In the same way that Dr. Mumma wants to empower her patients, she instructs in a way that produces less copy/paste protocols and more thoughtful consideration from healthcare providers.

Author
Dr. Mumma loves the written word. She got her BA in English, knowing she was going to go to chiropractic college for her doctorate afterward. She appreciates how stories and storytelling can change lives.
She is not known for her brevity, as her regular Substack readers can attest to. She likes to convey information in a relatable fashion, appreciates a good semicolon as much as a strong segue, and stands firmly by her use of the Oxford comma.

Everything You Never Knew About Birth with Dr. Lindsay Mumma
Despite how common pregnancy and birth are, there’s still so much mystery surrounding it. Many women don’t even begin learning about the pregnancy journey until after they’re already pregnant. Today’s guest explains how you can plan for a birth with as much medical freedom and information as possible.
The Modern State of Childbirth: In this frank discussion, Lindsay explains how modern medical practices often interfere with the natural process of pregnancy and birth. C-sections are used far more than is usually necessary. Yet there are some real benefits to a natural birth such as proper hormone release and even a better formation of lung-tissue protein in the baby.
A Necessary Process: The truth is, even in the best of circumstances, childbirth is a traumatic process. A proper recovery is needed, yet many new mothers rush to get back to “normal”. Lindsay describes why it's necessary to let the birth process occur as naturally as possible in order to support the health of both mother and child. She also explains where to go for help in this process and what is and is not possible to do at home. Are you planning on having or have had a natural birth? Tell me about it in the comments on the episode page!
